• If:

    • The purpose of your flight is limited to leisure and does not involve any commercial activity. In addition, your flight must take place outdoors.

     

    You must:

    • Follow National Safety Leaflet (here) and the detailed guidelines (here)
    • Always keep visual contact with the drone
    • Have insurance that covers recreation drone flight
    • Respect the maximum flight altitude (150 m)
    • Request authorisation for drones over 25 kg
    • Fly outdoors

     

    You must not:

    • Fly over people
    • Fly at night
    • Fly near airports and other sensitive areas
    • Broadcast aerial pictures without the consent of the concerned persons
  • If:

    • You operate your drone for recreational purposes over a special area certified by the national authorities (e.g. airfield and aeromodel clubs) and dedicated to model aircraft activities.

     

    You must:

    • Abide by the local rules applicable to the airfield
    • When required, coordinate with the local Air Traffic Control center and request an authorisation
  • If:

    • The purpose of the flight is not sport or leisure. French regulation defines 4 operational scenarios depending on the risk of the flight. Any operation outside of these scenarios is forbidden,  unless authorised on a case-by-case basis by the National Aviation Authority. 

     

    You must:

    • Register nationally and have a visible drone identity plate
    • Request a permit to perform aerial work
    • Request authorisation before flying over a populated area
    • Comply with additional requirements if the your drone is flown beyond line of sight, including training obligations
    • Have special aviation certificates, if the drone weights more than 25kg
    • Have Third Party Liability insurance with coverage of EUR 1m

     

    You must not:

    • Fly over populated area unless authorization is given (based on safety risk assessment)
    • Fly above 50 m (unless your drone weights less than 2 kg).
    • Fly above 150 m
