You are an operator of a recreational drone

  • If:

    • Not used for commercial purposes


    You must:

    • Have an authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority to operate a drone 
    • Prepare and submit a risk assessment form to the Civil Aviation Authority
    • Risk assessment must include a description of your drone and the planned operations (date, location, etc) as well as a copy of your insurance


    You must not:

    • Fly over people
    • Fly over vehicles and vessels
    • Fly over populated areas (cities, villages, towns, etc.) 
    • Fly near airports
    • Fly near areas of National Critical Importance (hospitals, power stations, buildings of Political importance, Osmosis Plants, etc.)


You are an operator of a model aircraft

  • If:

    • Not used for commercial purposes


    You must:

    • Have an authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority to operate a drone 
    • Prepare and submit a risk assessment form to the Civil Aviation Authority
    • Risk assessment must include a description of your drone and the planned operations (date, location, etc) as well as a copy of your insurance

    • Used for commercial purposes in relation with a business activity


    You must:

    • Have an authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority to operate a drone

    • Risk assessment must include a description of your drone and the planned operations (date, location, etc) as well as a copy of your insurance


    You must not:

    • Fly over people
    • Fly over vehicles and vessels

    • Fly near airports
