You are an operator of a recreational drone

  • If:

    • Not used for professional activities
    • Not equipped with any device that allows it to be flown automatically
    • If equipped with GPS + autopilot •Weighing less than 20kg ( 25kg soon)
    • Flown below 330 Feet


    You must:

    • Have a fireproof identification plate with owner‘s name and phone number if MTOM > 0,91 kg
    • Abide by ALL rules stated in the L-2, Doplnek X
    • Be equipped with „fail-safe“ system (against fly-aways) if MTOM > 0,91 kg
    • Follow guidelines on privacy/data protection
    • Have private insurance contract covering recreational drone activities must be made for airshows (see model aircraft for the minimum sums).


    You must not:

    • Drop objects from the drone
    • Be used for commercial purposes
    • Endanger any persons or things when operated, follow minimum distances in regulation
    • Fly or over fly restricted air spaces •Interfere with manned aircraft (min.3NM from aerodromes)

You are an operator of a model aircraft

  • If:

    • For the Czech Republic there are few differences between model aircraft and recreational drones:
      • Drone only used for competition/sport/leisure purposes
      • No BVLOS permitted
      • Can be used without GPS/autopilot
    • Weighing less than 20kg (soon to be 25kg)
    • Flown below 330 Feet


    You must:

    • Have a fireproof identification plate with owner‘s name and phone number if MTOM > 0,91 kg
    • Have Third Party Liability Insurance for airshows (<0,91kg 9k€, <7 kg 37k€, 7-20 kg 111k€)(from home country is okay)
    • Abide by Article 7 (airspace) in the L-2, Doplnek X, should follow other articles
    • Be equipped with „fail-safe“ system (against fly-aways) if MTOM > 0,91 kg
    • Follow guidelines on privacy/data protection


    You must not:

    • Endanger any persons or things when operated, follow minimum distances in regulation
    • Fly or over fly restricted air spaces see attached NRP for specific circumstance
    • Impede manned aircraft (min.3NM from aerodromes)

You are an operator of an unmanned aircraft

  • If:

    • Used for commercial purposes or if more than 20kg


    You must:

    • Register your drone
    • Have inside or on a drone a fireproof registration plate with owner‘s name, phone number AND the nationality with registration marked. Registration mark must be visible on the fuselage of your drone
    • Be operated by a pilot with a license
    • Have documentation including logs and manuals
    • Have an aerial work permit (not for large model aircraft)
    • Report any accident/incident
    • Have Liability insurance up to EUR 880,000
    • Abide by ALL rules stated in the L-2, Doplnek X
    • Be equipped with „fail-safe“ system (against fly-aways)
    • Follow guidelines on privacy/data protection


    You must not:

    • Endanger persons or manned aircraft, follow minimum distances in regulation and individual distances in the permit
    • Fly or over fly restricted air spaces
    • Interfere with manned aircraft
