You are an operator of a recreational drone

  • If:

    • Not used for commercial purposes
    • Flying within the line of sight


    You must:

    • Keep visual contact with drone at all time
    • Stay away from people, animals and objects
    • Respect the privacy of others


    You must not:

    • Operate in clouds, above crowds, industrial sites, urban areas and other restricted areas


    It is recommended to have a private insurance covering recreational drone activities.

You are an operator of a model aircraft

  • If:

    • Not used for commercial purposes
    • Flying in specific aerodromes dedicated to model aircraft activities
    • Flying within the line of sight


    You must:

    • Have Third Party Liability Insurance with a coverage of 1 million Euros


    You must not:

    • Operate in clouds, above crowds, industrial sites, urban areas and other restricted areas

You are an operator of a professional drone

  • If:

    • Used for commercial, scientific or manufacturer testing purposes


    You must:

    • Be registered nationally and abide by national regulation
    • Have a Type Certificate and a Certificate of Airworthiness for drones greater than 25 kg
    • National drone pilot certificate is obligatory
    • Have Third Party Liability insurance with a coverage of 1 million Euros
    • File a NOTAM


    You must not:

    • Operate at night-time
    • Operate in clouds, above crowds, industrial sites, urban areas and other restricted areas
    • Fly 400 ft above ground level
